REC/REW dev update #17 - broken

Finally managed to restart my PC.

My SSD broke down on last Saturday. That means I basically lost all the progress I had made so far in the development of the next update to chapter 2.

Looks like I learned to make backups the hard way, uh...

I'm still trying to get a rough estimate of what I actually lost and what I can retrieve. I managed to recover a "master copy" of the current issue of REC/REW by decompiling the files on itch. I didn't try out *everything* so all I can say is, it *seems* to be working. I will use it as a base. I reinstalled Ren'Py and everything. I should also be able to recover the web version the same way. Apart for that there's a LOT of stuff that's missing and simply won't be back.

Thank to the gods the drafts of the other chapters are safe - I had made backups of *them*. That loss would have brought me to the point of terminating the project right away, now I'll just accept my schedule is going to suffer a *big* delay.

I'm presently looking for notes and ideas I might have left here and there (it's worth noting that I've been using chatGPT and poeAI to proofread my script and catch typos and mistakes, that means I can easily retrieve a relatively good amount of content). Much to my dismay I already found out the last week of work is nowhere to be found - it makes me particularly sad  because I was particularly proud of what I had come up with... which does not necessarily mean they actually were good but to me that's a BIG loss =\.

On a (very) side note which has (almost) nothing to do with the sad news (for me, at least): I think I'll start avoiding Twitter (or"X", or whatever... you know, that thing Elon Musk brags about, the one which neither sends stuff into space nor makes low-poly electric pickups). I really (and I mean, REALLY) suck at marketing myself and my work. It's simply not my poison. I will focus on retrieving data/rewriting chunks/swearing against myself for not having made backups: it's a better use of my time than wasting it doing something I already know I'm not good at!

Not that I was a frequent poster, by the way...
