REC/REW(rite) - update

Guess what? I'm late! Boo!

Clarification: "I'm late" - in the sense, I previously said each character would take (roughly) In my defense, let me explain: the character I'm working on is actually three characters! Doesn't make sense? Well, it actually does.

Trust me.

Anyways! I'm close to completing the sprites set for Bianca — just one clothing set away, which roughly means 2-3 nights days' work. It's been much harder than I thought, honestly. However, it helped me refine my workflow even further. That said... no, I'm not going to say anything like, "Hey, next time I'll be faster!" After all no plan survives first contact with the enemy, and I'm quite sure mine is no exception. The good part is, hey! At last characters are starting to consistently look taller (or shorter)!

Mika is around 170 cm (about 5'7") while Bianca barely makes it to 160 cm (5'4"-ish?). At 174-175 cm (5'9"? Man, why can't the Anglosphere embrace SI units?), Pris is going to be the tallest girl around.

Sprites aside... about the script. Yeah, the script. Currently working on the remake of the second story arc (Mika's arc, or M2). Still in the early phases — scenes are bound to play out differently depending on things like, whether your decide to trust a certain character (or not), and whether it's the first time you read it (or the second, or the third... depending on what you do (and also how many times you did it!), the following playthrough may change just slightly or get much different). If you thing recursivity can be mind-boggling, try WRITING it down!

Well, to be honest, it's not really "a mess": it's just that you'll think the story is highly non-linear. You'll be like, "Hey, this played out differently last time!" and start thinking the story is non-linear and blah blah blah...

I'll tell you a secret: this is not a visual novel. It's a kinetic novel pretending to be a visual novel. Your choices matter... by the kind courtesy of the author. For the time being =P

I'm planning the game structure in advance using block diagrams — it really helps with variables and how they should change. As I’ve found out, it’s been a huge help! Especially considering that the game structure (i.e., calls, jumps, and other Ren'Py-based amenities) is getting more and more... uh... hazy!
