REC/REW dev update 4 - M1 line now opening
Well, that's it.
The big one.
The first chapter of REC/REW has been officially released and is now available on itch. My PC says it's 23:49 here therefore yeah, I managed to stick to my self-imposed schedule. Hooray for me!
So far it's been childplay. Call it a demo. Call it a proof - of - concept. Call it the way you like. That was just a way to tell myself, "hey! Look at me! I'm doing... something."
Not anymore. Today I get to dirt my hands. The real thing starts here.
Into the Maelstrom, JaN!
Today I'm not just a stupid newbie who literally stumbled upon itch.io and just wanted to try it out "and see what happens". Today I'm an indie game developer who's showing off the fruits of his hard work. Today is my first "hello world!"
In a few days I'll be likely returning to my everyday gloomy, cynical mood. I'll start looking at the numbers once again, see that my game's stats fare even worse than my already rather humble expectations and start whining.
I leave that stuff for the days to come. Today I think back to the countless hours spent reading and checking and everything, and enjoy the sweet feeling of accomplishment those activities gave me. As fearful I was back when I released the demo, so full of pride and self-confidence I am now as I release REC/REW - M1 line. I like the story I wrote, I like the way it unfolds, I like the twists and the quirks I was ultimately able to put into the plot.
To hell with the stats! I'm writing a Visual Novel, which already is a niche genre. And I've decided to keep it basically devoid of any explicit content (dealing with characters and backgrounds already is more than enough for someone with my non-existent drawing skills), thus deciding to aim for a niche within the niche.
Let's just say I'm working on a visual Novel. The niche of a niche in a niche genre.
And I like what I'm doing. Yeah, I'm loving every bit!
From these peaks of joy I'll fall back into the depths of my gloom, sooner or later.
Only, not today. Today life's good, and I'm on top of world.
Ps. just a final note for you all who like to keep track of where the coin goes (savvy!): having started this project as an hobby of sorts I did never focus on the "economical" side of this adventure. That's why I've relased it for free. For records' sake, right now I do not see a sound reason why the next updates should not follow the same pattern.
